In China there are several trade fairs held each year. The most popular one, which covers most industries, is the Canton Fair which is held twice a year and in two phases. The first one is held from April 15th to 20th (Phase 1) and from April 25th to 30th (Phase 2). The second one is held from October 15th to 20th (Phase 1) and from October 25th to 30th (Phase 2).
Both regular visitors and visitors attending the fair for the first time face the challenge of executing their orders once they return to their own country. A typical importer places orders with about 6 different suppliers (some with up to 25 different suppliers). Once the buyer returns to his own country he needs to send advance deposits to, or open Letters of Credit with, each individual supplier. Furthermore, he needs to explain his documentation, brand and quality requirements, packing information, shipping marks and other basic requirements to every supplier. Then he needs to coordinate his forwarder or shipping line with the estimated delivery date. With often numerous orders to coordinate, buyers spend a huge amount of time and effort simply following up on orders to ensure a quality product and timely delivery. There is also no guarantee that the supplier will fulfill their promise. It is not unheard of that shipments of empty containers have arrived at their final destination..
That is where Marks United Limited plays a vital role. When we get involved, whether you sign contracts with 1 or 100 suppliers, the importer needs to explain their requirements to us just once. They can make one advance payment or open one Letter of Credit to us and we will manage payments to all suppliers. Marks United Limited can ensure the level of quality control and inspection is delivered as promised and that the importer is not cheated.
In addition, handling an importer’s trade fair orders gives us a better understanding of their tastes and product requirements. When we attend other trade fairs we try to get better suppliers, pricing and quality. Working with Marks United Limited ensures that sourcing does not end when an importer returns from a trade fair.
